The Community Foundation of Orillia & Area is a vital community asset: a public foundation created by and for the people of our community. We work with private donors, service clubs, businesses, and charitable organizations to stimulate charitable giving, establish permanent endowment funds, and support initiatives which make an ongoing difference and enhance the quality of life in our community.
Community vitality has been our purpose, promise and passion since 1999 when we started connecting donors to community needs and opportunities. Together, we are helping build strong and resilient places to live, work and play.
We are part of Canada’s community foundation movement, represented by more than 170 community foundations from coast to coast.

How the Foundation Started
During a dinner meeting, local entrepreneur, Jim Dykes commented on his newly acquired interest in community foundations. He continued on in some length until one of those present threw $20 into the breadbasket and said, “Here’s some money – just go start one”. Continue…

Grant Guidelines, Applications, and Report Forms
Grant applications are reviewed twice annually: spring and fall. Please contact the Community Foundation at info@communityfoundationorillia.ca or 705-259-1163 well in advance of the April 1 and October 1 deadline dates.
