About the organization:

The Cellar Singers present choral music under professional leadership. Our rehearsal home is in Orillia and we present four major concerts a year. We enrich the musical experience of our members and audience through education, outreach and high-quality performance of the choral art.
This includes a traditional rehearsal process, providing our members with the opportunity to: learn high-quality repertoire; increase their musical skill, cognitive, and physical wellbeing; and build a sense of confidence and belonging. At our concerts, members and audience alike gain access to excellent professional musicians and soloists, contributing to the cultural life of our community.

Please briefly describe the project and how the funds will be used:

The Cellar Singers would like to begin a youth choral affiliate program. We’d do outreach to high schools to recruit young singers. Our artistic director would do workshops and rehearsals with them and have them participate in our rehearsals, and they’d be invited to join our choir for our December performances.

How many people will benefit from the project directly and indirectly within the geographic area covered by the CFOA:

The choir has 40 current members, and average annual concert attendance of 500. We would anticipate bringing in 15 youth choral affiliates and would be excited for their families to become part of our audience.

Please list any partnerships and collaborations for this project:

We look forward to building closer relationships with schools throughout the area. A local high school music teacher will serve as our primary contact.

Please describe any in kind contributions/volunteer labour connected to this project:

Board members and choristers will provide outreach, logistical, and marketing support.

How will success be evaluated?

We know our average annual membership and concert attendance. Success would be seeing measurable increases in both, especially attendance, and would be tracked in our regular statistics.
