About the organization:

Jubilee House is celebrating its Silver Jubilee anniversary in 2026! Jubilee House has been providing supportive housing to women and their children in Orillia since 2001 under Couchiching Jubilee House, which joined Redwood in February of 2023. Jubilee House offers four furnished apartments and a variety of programs and wraparound services to meet the needs of residents as part of Redwood’s mandate to create safe, affordable, hopeful housing where people thrive in supportive community.

Proposed Project Start Date:
July 1, 2026

Proposed Project End Date:
December 31, 2026

Please briefly describe the project and how the funds will be used:

We request a $2400 contribution to provide each household at Jubilee House a Good Food Box, a grocery gift card, and a bus pass each month for six months.

We provide low-income, single-woman-led families a safe, affordable, hopeful place to live and thrive. Our residents receive deeply subsidized rent and support to set and achieve life and housing goals. While housing provides stability, further assistance to address food security is usually needed. Good Food Boxes help ensure that nutritious foods are available, while grocery cards support choice and dignity. Bus passes also offer independent transportation skills and opportunities, supporting residents now and in the future.

How many people will benefit from the project directly and indirectly within the geographic area covered by the CFOA:

Jubilee House is currently full with four women and their 10 children. This is representative of the number of people who benefit from living at Jubilee House in any six-month period. It is four families that can stay together, and it represents generational benefits as well.

Please list any partnerships and collaborations for this project:

Redwood and Jubilee House have informal relationships for collaboration with The Sharing Place Orillia, the Lighthouse Shelter, Empower Simcoe, CMHA, Georgian College, the Orillia Library, and Orillia & District Literacy Council, all of which we use to connect our residents to services in their community.

Please describe any in kind contributions/volunteer labour connected to this project:

Jubilee House was founded by volunteers, and we have a lovely volunteer team to help with apartment changeovers and other occasional projects.

How will success be evaluated?

Basic needs/quality of life: families are able to afford healthy food, transportation, and community inclusion activities.

This data is gathered quantitatively by tracking the number of Good Food Boxes, grocery gift cards, and bus passes provided and qualitatively through conversations with residents and staff observation.
