About the organization:

The Orillia Vocal Ensemble is a registered charity and community-based choir for adults of all ages. The mission of the OVE is to raise funds for local charities through their concerts and to foster a love of community and music. Since forming the OVE has raised close to $200,000 for local organizations. The OVE provides an annual CFOA scholarship to aspiring vocal students and in the current year is pleased to be able to increase the amount of the award to from $500.00 to $1000. We have a close mentoring relationship with the Orillia Community Children’s Choir, assisting them in sustainable growth and featuring the OCCC in many concerts. The OVE collaborates with many local performing groups.

Proposed Project Start Date:
June 3, 2026

Proposed Project End Date:
June 3, 2026

Please briefly describe the project and how the funds will be used:

This grant would support our operating expenses associated with our fundraising concerts including venue rental, guest performer fees and technical support. The upcoming concert on June 3, 2026, will benefit The Orillia Museum of Arts & History, to support accessible programming for youth. The CFOA would be credited as a concert sponsor.
In December 2025, we raised $5720.00 for the Lighthouse. In February 2026, we partnered with St. Paul’s Centre in presenting 2 fundraising Cabaret shows, to give back to our home venue. Sponsorships, donations and grants make up approximately 50% of the operating budget. Membership fees account for the rest. Members are subsidized as needed. Students are free.

How many people will benefit from the project directly and indirectly within the geographic area covered by the CFOA:

The current membership of the OVE is approximately 70 members. We anticipate attendance at the concert to be between 300-400 individuals. While it is difficult to measure the individuals served by the charities we support, we know it is significant. This is the 1st concert we have partnered with OMAH. Letter of Support attached

Please list any partnerships and collaborations for this project:

Orillia Museum of Art and History-Letter attached

Please describe any in kind contributions/volunteer labour connected to this project:

All of the members of the OVE are volunteers and participate in many ways including performing and organizing concerts and serving on the Board of Directors and committees. List attached. OMAH will also provide volunteers to assist with the upcoming concert, as do all of the charities we support.

How will success be evaluated?

We will measure our success in 3 ways
-Concert attendance
-Funds raised for charity
-Satisfaction of community partners
