About the organization:

Hillcrest Lodge is a charitable organization offering affordable housing for seniors in need.
Our vision is to seek out seniors who have low incomes, who may have been marginalized by society and thereby provide them with:
– A safe, secure and affordable place to live,
– Continental breakfast, lunch and dinner every day,
– A community to become part of.
Hillcrest Lodge may be the only facility in Ontario that offers stable, geared to income comfortable housing with three nutritious meals a day for seniors.

Please briefly describe the project and how the funds will be used:

The Community Foundation generously provided a Fall Grant in 2025 to purchase a small number of new tables. We would like to apply this grant to refinish our remaining tables to match our new tables. We were informed that it was very difficult to match wood tone stains for our new tables, particularly because our remaining tables are so old.

Our remaining tables have not been refinished since they were purchased 20 years ago. The surfaces are dull, stained and no longer repel stains and liquids. We would like to refinish the surfaces to match the colour of our new tables. It would give the entire dining room a fresh, new look and allow our remaining tables to last another 20 years.

How many people will benefit from the project directly and indirectly within the geographic area covered by the CFOA:

These changes benefit anyone who uses our dining room. Our 31 tenants will have a direct benefit by eating with dignity in a place that is cared for and improved. The greater Orillia Community that are welcome into our dining room from time to time (100s per annum) benefit by using new equipment that is not a threat to fail.

We will be drawing funds from past and future fundraisers to bridge the difference between what we are requesting from the Orillia Foundation and the budgeted cost.

How will success be evaluated?

Finishing all the tables in our dining hall.
